The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this role is to oversee market expansion and growth of Corning® Specialty Materials’ Mobile Consumer Electronics (Gorilla® Glass and Advanced Optics) products in Vietnam. This role requires a strategic thinker adept in sales/business development, with a deep technical knowledge of specialty glass and optics industries. Responsibilities include exploring new business opportunities, conducting market research, mapping customer needs, establishing local relationships, serving as the technical interface for customers, and managing MCE’s account aspects in Vietnam.
Principal Accountabilities
- Business growth: Drive business growth by identifying new business opportunities, industry partnerships, and collaborations in alignment with company objectives.
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Achieve incremental revenue targets through effective business development strategies, negotiation, and closing deals.
- Market Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic plans to penetrate and expand market share for Gorilla® Glass and Advanced Optics products in Vietnam.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct market research and analysis to identify market trends, competitor activities, and evolving market and customer needs. Use insights to develop actionable plans.
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders in the specialty glass and optics sectors.
- Product Positioning: Lead efforts in positioning Gorilla® Glass and Advanced Optics products as industry leaders, ensuring product differentiation and competitive advantage.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and support to customers, addressing technical inquiries, gaining specification agreement, and organizing internal response to product quality disagreements.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities. Present findings to Line Manager and Senior Leadership Team.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields (preferred)
- Proven experience (3 years) in business development or sales within related industries.
- Strong understanding of Gorilla® Glass & Advanced Optics products, their applications, and market dynamics.
- Fluency in English, and Vietnamese languages. Ability to speak Chinese language preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
